AN EMPOWERING COMMUNITY EVENT

There's a land that I see where the children are free
And I say it ain't far to this land from where we are
Take my hand, come with me, where the children are free
Come with me, take my hand, and we'll live

44 years ago, Marlo Thomas gave us a groundbreaking children’s event that celebrated feminism and multiculturalism. It was an early childhood education in empathy and inclusion.

Now, 44 years later Echo Theater Collective, in conjunction with The Actors’ Garden, School of Rock: Oak Park, and our children, are re-imagining this iconic event to let our community’s children can do and be anything they want to be. We revisit this joyful show celebrating how far we have come and recognizing how much more we can do.

But this will be more than just a show. We are working with the community to provide mini-lessons on self love and acceptance in conjunction with the play to ensure that our children are embraced regardless of race, religion, gender identity, or disability.

OUR WORK STARTS HERE FOR A MORE INCLUSIVE AND EQUITABLE FUTURE FOR OUR CHILDREN
